Well, not really (sorry). But if you had been over, you would’ve feasted with me this evening. I got home from work and made myself a smoothie. The beautiful thing about smoothies is that you can’t make many mistakes. So today, my smoothie had the following:
1 cup of rice milk
1 scoop of vanilla Sunwarrior protein
1/2 teaspoon maca powder
Blueberries
1/2 a banana
1 tablespoon coconut oil
3 ice cubes
That filled me up until about 6, when I started craving kale chips. So I made one of my bosses recipes (see here). I ate an entire head of kale. It was amazing. But later tonight I started getting a sweet craving, so I made protein breakfast bars. The recipe was roughly this:
1 cup rolled oats
2 scoops of vanilla Sunwarrior protein
1 teaspoon maca powder
1 tablespoon shredded unsweetened coconut (I would’ve used more but I ran out!)
1/3 cup almond butter
1 tablespoon cacao nibs
2 tablespoons cocoa powder
1 1/2 tablespoons mini chocolate chips
1/2 tablespoon coconut oil
1 1/2 tablespoons maple syrup
So I tried mixing it all together, and it didn’t really work out at that well, until I added rice milk and water slowly to the mixture. They look like this, pressed into a pan:
Currently they’re in the freezer, waiting to be cut and wrapped into bars. But I tried the wet mixture, and it’s quite yummy!
So what is all this stuff I’ve used? Sunwarrior protein is my latest supplement purchase. Its taste is way better than any other vegetarian protein powder I’ve tried. It’s raw, sprouted, and vegan. It makes a wonderfully creamy smoothie. Maca powder is kind of similar to ginseng, in that it’s gives you great energy, and a libido boost
. Raw cacao nibs are a great source of beta-carotene, zinc and magnesium. It also has more antioxidants than blueberries, red wine, green tea, and actually any other superfood. Coconut oil is just delicious, and is an incredible source of healthy fat. It actually promotes weight loss, rather than hindering it.

You are too funny! You had the old, sweet, salty, sweet cravings. I know them well! Looking forward to trying those bars tomorrow
